The European Union held its first specialized summit in the field of nuclear energy in Brussels, chaired by Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi. Where 36 heads of state and European and international organizations met around one goal, which is to return to nuclear energy as a clean and suitable source of energy.
Representatives from Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attended from the Arab world. The summit leaders stressed that the Arab presence is essential in any step taken by the European continent in the field of nuclear energy. In appreciation of this role, the summit leaders promised that in the next summit there will be greater representation of Arab countries, and that this will be a “mandation that will be taken into consideration.”
During the summit, Grossi stated that the countries participating in the summit that wish to re-rely on nuclear energy will take into consideration not to rely on Russian nuclear fuel, which occupies an important place in generating global nuclear energy.
This summit was attended by the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, who said that nuclear energy is an essential element that countries of the world must rely on to reach the desired climate goal.
