The nuclear energy program in Algeria is expected to be launched during the coming period in light of Algeria’s efforts to diversify energy sources and reduce dependence on oil and gas to generate electricity. The goal of the agreement is to develop nuclear applications for peaceful purposes, and Algeria is working on preparing a national strategy aimed at introducing nuclear energy into the energy mix, taking into account the transition to clean and environmental energy. The Minister of Energy, Mohamed Arkab, stated that nuclear energy plays a fundamental and important role in embodying the strategy that aims to transition to clean energy in Algeria.
