The Ministry of Transport in Qatar stated in a post on the “x” platform that the Lusail bus depot for electric buses is considered the largest in the world. It can accommodate 478 buses on an area of about 400,000 square metres. The Lusail bus depot is considered the first bus depot in the Middle East as it relies on clean energy sources represented by the sun.

The warehouse contains about 11,000 units of solar panels that generate energy amounting to 4 megawatts during one day, with the aim of supplying the warehouse buildings with the necessary energy. It is consistent with the objectives of the Qatar National Strategy for Environment and Climate Change.

The warehouse includes three sections. The first section contains approximately 500 parking lots equipped with electrical charging equipment to operate electric buses, in addition to a number of facilities for maintenance and rapid inspection operations, in addition to cleaning and electrical distribution substations. The number of equipment reached approximately 248 electrical charging equipment.

The second section contains residential buildings to accommodate warehouse workers and was developed according to international standards, in addition to the requirements of the Ministry of Labor and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy. The building capacity reaches 1,400 workers supported by all service facilities, which contain dining halls and a mosque in addition to recreational and administrative facilities.

Public transport bus infrastructure program projects have been developed with infrastructure that supports clean, environmentally friendly electric buses. Thus, Qatar National Vision 2030 has been achieved, and this came through cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation and the executive authorities in the country.

The program aims to provide an integrated and sustainable network of public transport in the country and be an interconnected transport unit that includes public transport bus systems in addition to the Doha Metro network and tram networks. The program consists of 8 bus stations in different regions, including (Sudan, Musheireb, Lusail, Al Gharafa, Al Wakra, Education City, Industrial Area, Central Arabian Gulf), in addition to the presence of 4 bus depots in the areas of (Lusail, Al Wakra, Al Rayyan, and the New Industrial Area).

The facilities are supported by more than 650 electric charging stations aimed at operating electric buses. The program includes 4 park and ride stations in (Al-Qassar, Al-Wakrah, Lusail, Education City), and this aims to serve public transportation users in addition to supporting transportation operations.

There are more than 2,300 bus parking stations distributed inside and outside the city of Doha, and it was designed to be compatible with international standards and the latest types of sustainable technology, as it is compatible with the identity of public transportation. The infrastructure program for public transportation carriers was established in Qatar for a complete transformation of a transportation system powered by clean electric energy. Environmentally friendly, and to provide the best types of services, the latest modern technological technologies were used, which is compatible with the requirements of sustainable development.
