The American company "Diamondback Energy" signed a non-binding letter of intent with "Oklo"; With the aim of establishing a small nuclear reactor in the United States to produce energy, especially low-carbon electricity.
This deal is one of many deals concluded by many American energy companies with the aim of securing energy supplies of carbon-neutral electricity.
The letter was signed to begin nuclear energy exploration operations in the Permian Basin in the United States. “Oklo” is distinguished by its small nuclear reactors, which some believe that the amount of energy produced from them is insufficient, compared to similar conventional reactors, from which the amount of energy produced reaches 15 megawatts. .
But on the other hand, supporters of these small reactors emphasized that they have an important role in supporting industrial areas with electricity and energy, especially industrial areas that are located in extreme areas remote from energy supply centers.
Supporters also believe that, despite the small amount of nuclear energy produced by these reactors, it is necessary if countries desire a green transition and reduce dependence on oil and unclean energy sources.
