“Russia” reduces diesel exports in April to the lowest level in 5 months

April 2, 2024

Russian diesel exports face a sharp decline this April. The country plans to reduce its shipments from the main ports in the west of the country to their lowest level in 5 months.

It is expected that Russia, in agreement with Belarus, will reduce the export of its three main diesel export ports located on the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea to 2.29 million tons per month. This means that the quantity exported daily is 569 thousand barrels. Which means that it is less than the daily rate that was exported in March 2024, which was 724 thousand barrels.

The country plans to reduce its diesel exports after the Ukrainian attacks that damaged many Russian oil refining plants. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed that his country does not plan to completely ban diesel exports; This is because Russia mainly produces diesel in excess of its domestic need. Which means that if it bans exports, there will be a surplus in local stock.
