The Italian company Eni revealed promising indicators of oil and gas discoveries in Ivory Coast, as part of its efforts to enhance its market share of these two strategic commodities in Ivory Coast, West Africa. This comes in the wake of Eni’s announcement a month ago of the second largest oil discovery in Ivory Coast, which is a field Callao, which Abidjan relies on to develop its oil resources.
These new discoveries reinforce Eni's successful track record in hydrocarbon exploration in Côte d'Ivoire. The company made huge discoveries of oil and gas during the past year and began actual production from some of them, and these results were approved by the Ivorian government.
The Balin field, located in deep waters southeast of Ivory Coast, is the first project in Africa related to carbon-neutral exploration and production.
Emissions from production facilities are being reduced using the best available technologies, and remaining emissions are being offset by taking advantage of innovative initiatives.
The Balin field, which Eni discovered in 2021, contributes to meeting Ivory Coast's needs for domestic electricity demand and exporting it to become a regional center.
