General Electric Vernova made changes in the model of the wind turbines it is working on, which led to the halting of the implementation of 3 marine projects that were supposed to be launched in New York in cooperation with several other companies such as “Attentive Energy” and “Rise Light and Power.”

After the US government had given temporary approval to these projects last October, it refused to give it final approval because of those amendments.

These developments are a painful blow to the Biden administration’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. It relies heavily on offshore wind energy as one of the main renewable energy sources.

This setback comes at a time when the wind energy sector faces other challenges, such as supply chain problems and high interest rates. Which led to the cancellation of some projects and the withdrawal of billions of dollars in investments last year.

However, energy companies and project developers are trying to maintain their optimism; Vineyard Offshore, the developer of one of the stalled projects, announced its intention to compete for any new projects in the future.
