May 13, 2024

The Research and Development Center of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has achieved an important achievement by publishing 73 peer-reviewed scientific papers in the Scopus database during the year 2023.

This research included participation in international scientific conferences, magazines, and peer-reviewed scientific periodicals. This brings the total number of research and scientific papers published by the Center since its establishment to 221 papers by the end of last year.

These scientific achievements are a strong testimony to DEWA's commitment to supporting scientific research and enhancing the UAE's position as a leading center for energy innovation.

This research contributes to enriching scientific knowledge in various fields related to the energy sector, such as solar energy, water, energy efficiency, integration of smart networks, space, and advanced applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

This success is attributed to the distinguished national competencies included in DEWA’s research. The center includes 29 employees who hold doctoral and master’s degrees.

The center’s Emiratisation rate reaches 74%, while Emirati women make up 40% of its staff. This is an indication of DEWA's commitment to providing equal opportunities for all and enhancing the role of women in the fields of science and technology.

DEWA provides a positive environment that stimulates creativity and innovation, and provides opportunities to exchange best experiences and practices locally and globally. It also strengthens partnerships between the government and education sectors to consolidate Dubai's position as a leading destination for scientists and researchers in the field of clean and renewable energy.

Commenting on this achievement, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Executive Director of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: This scientific achievement embodies our firm commitment to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum – Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai – to promote advanced and innovative scientific research. This supports the achievement of future plans and ambitions, and contributes to achieving the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050.
