SunGrow, a global leader in solar energy solutions, has been awarded a partnership contract to supply the mega Amala project in western Saudi Arabia with solar inverters and energy storage systems.

This project is considered one of the largest energy storage projects independent of the grid in the world. It will provide sustainable renewable energy for desalination and wastewater treatment plants in Amala.

The contract includes the supply of 165 MW of solar inverters and 160 MW/760 MWh of battery energy storage systems.
The partnership was concluded between SunGro and engineering giant Larsen & Toubro, which will undertake engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) duties for the clean energy project.

SunGrow explained that the project will contribute to achieving the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s sustainable energy goals, by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and promoting the use of renewable energy sources.

The project is expected to be operational by 2027, with the completion of the huge Amala tourism project.
