European Union: Egypt qualifies to be a global energy center

May 29, 2024

Christine Berger, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt, said that Egypt plays an important and supportive role in ensuring the provision of clean green energy to Europe.

Berger stated that Egypt possesses the necessary resources to be a global energy center, including sun, wind, and land, in addition to the political will.

Berger pointed out that the electrical connection between Egypt and Greece does not only aim to transmit electricity, but also represents a safe source of energy for the entire Europe.

Egypt is considered one of the leading countries in the field of renewable energy in the Middle East and North Africa region. It aims to increase reliance on renewable energy sources to generate electricity to 42% by 2035.

The Jebel el-Zeit wind station, which was recently opened, is one of the largest wind power stations in Africa. With a capacity of 252 megawatts, this station is also an important model of Egypt’s commitment to developing renewable energy sources.

Egypt attracts large investments in the field of renewable energy, thanks to its distinctive geographical location and its great potential in the field of solar and wind energy.

These investments contribute to transforming Egypt into a regional and international center for the production and export of green energy.

Egypt plays an important role in providing clean green energy to Europe. This is thanks to its rich natural resources and commitment to developing renewable energy sources.
