Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chair of COP28, emphasized the importance of collaboration between artificial intelligence (AI), the energy transition, and the growth of the Global Southto accelerate climate-positive sustainable development for all.
Al Jaber pointed out that cooperation between the energy and technology sectors is necessary to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence. To meet the world’s growing energy demand in a sustainable manner and advance carbon emissions reduction efforts.
Al Jaber explained that the COP28 conference made history through the “Emirati consensus” that presented “the most comprehensive set of climate breakthroughs since the Paris Agreement.”
Al Jaber stressed that despite the geopolitical challenges, “COP28 proved that multilateralism is still alive and well.”
The conference united the world around a practical path to keep 1.5 degrees Celsius within reachwhile building resilience and maintaining social and economic development for all, he stated.
Within the framework of cooperation in the field of clean energy, the foundation stone was laid for solar power plants in Bilasuvar and Naftchala, as well as the wind project in AbsheronGaradag, and these initiatives provide more than 1 gigawatt of clean energy to meet the growing energy demand in Azerbaijan.
“This builds on the UAE’s history of partnership to enhance this country’s green growth and promote sustainable development globally. Practical partnerships like these will help turn the UAE consensus into tangible reality around the world,” Dr. Al Jaber said.
