Adani Green Energy, a leading Indian renewable energy company, has revealed that it has invested more than $1 billion (RS 83.5 billion) in wind energy projects in Sri Lanka.
This investment is the largest foreign direct investment in the history of Sri Lanka and is one of the most important energy projects in the country to date.
The investment will be used to establish two wind farms with a total capacity of 484 MW. The wind farms are located in the north of the country, in the city of Mannar and the village of Boneryn.
$740 million will be allocated to constructing the wind farms themselves, while an additional $290 million will be allocated to building energy transmission infrastructure.
These wind energy projects are expected to significantly reduce Sri Lanka’s dependence on fossil fuels.
These projects will also help improve the country’s energy security and enhance sustainability. The project will also create new job opportunities and contribute to the development of the local economy. The company will be committed to supporting Sri Lanka to achieve its ambitious goals in the field of renewable energy.
This investment is an important step toward a more sustainable future for Sri Lanka, Adani Green Energy’s CEO said, noting the importance of wind energy projects in terms of reducing the country’s dependence on fossil fuels, improving energy security, and promoting sustainability.
