Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak inaugurated a solar power plant in the Al Buraiqeh capital district, Aden. This project was carried out by Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity and Energy and the local authority in Aden.

The plant covers an area of 1.6 million square meters and is the first and largest strategic project to generate electricity using clean and renewable energy in Yemen. More than 211,000 solar panels and over 900 kilometers of electrical cables have been installed, along with 43,000 pits and metal structures. The plant also includes 12 sub-stations, 9 kilometers of high-voltage lines, and a main conversion station.

The project has been completed 100%, and trial operations have begun before the plant is fully operational. The plant has a capacity of 120 megawatts and can provide clean electricity to the city. Prime Minister bin Mubarak praised the efforts that made this vital project a success, noting that the project is expandable to reach 600 megawatts in future stages.
