The Iraqi Ministry of Oil is nearing completion of a project that will convert heavy crude oil and oil residues into high-quality white products. The ministry also highlighted the increased production of southern refineries, which reached 1.3 million barrels of fuel.
Oil Ministry Spokesman Assem Jihad stated that the refining sector has witnessed significant development recently, in addition to the development of production operations. He pointed out that this development is reflected in the provision of oil derivatives for local consumption.
He added that the Southern Refineries Company has achieved significant production rates by adding 1.3 million barrels of fuel through the recently inaugurated isomerization unit. He explained that the work of the isomerization units focuses on improving the quality of gasoline and giving it high quality and efficiency.
Jihad also mentioned that the Southern Refinery increased its production to a refining capacity of 280,000 barrels per day after the opening of its fourth unit, with a capacity of 70,000 barrels.
He explained that the ministry has the FCC project, which has reached 85% completion and will be inaugurated soon with a production capacity of 55,000 barrels per day. He pointed out that the project will convert heavy crude oil or oil residues into high-quality white products, stressing that the oil sector is receiving great attention from officials.
