China Energy Engineering Corporation has achieved a significant breakthrough in Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy market by securing a massive contract worth CNY 6.98 billion (approximately USD 972 million) to build a giant solar power plant.
This contract deepens the economic ties between China and Saudi Arabia, especially in the renewable energy sector, with China Energy Engineering collaborating with Saudi partners, including the Public Investment Fund, ACWA Power, and Aramco Energy, to construct a photovoltaic power plant with a production capacity of 2 gigawatts.
The project is expected to take approximately 31 months to complete, demonstrating the ambitious goals of both parties to achieve this milestone in record time. This deal follows a series of similar agreements signed by other Chinese companies in the Kingdom, such as TCL Zhonghuan and Jinko Solar, which are investing billions of dollars in Saudi Arabia’s solar energy sector.
The renewable energy sector in Saudi Arabia is expected to witness rapid growth in the coming years, driven by massive investments and supportive government policies. Chinese companies are set to play a pivotal role in this growth, leveraging their expertise and technology to develop large-scale projects in this field.
