The article discusses the concept of energy security and the various problems that revolve around that concept. Energy is considered an essential element for achieving economic growth and environmental sustainability. Energy sources rank high on the list of international geopolitical events, and energy is also a source of wars and conflicts, especially in industrialized countries that always seek to obtain different energy sources from developing countries.

Hence, the concept of energy security began to be closely linked to security concepts, and began to be included within national, regional and international security systems. Due to the large demand and conflicts over oil and gas resources in the world; Therefore, the idea of establishing a research arm specialized in studying the various dimensions of energy security came about, and the International Energy Security Agency – which is based in the United States – opened its research arm in Cairo, the Saif Bin Hilal Center for Studies and Research in Energy Sciences.

We find that there is a problem regarding the concept of energy security. There is a lot of research and studies that have dealt with this concept, but it is still surrounded by ambiguity, which is what this article attempts to address by presenting the different concepts of energy security with their political, economic, security, environmental, and strategic variables.
