Professor of Automotive and Energy Engineering at Helwan University
Green hydrogen is considered the fuel of the future, and represents the ideal solution to the problem of climate change, which is represented by the average temperature of the atmosphere surrounding the planet rising by one and a half degrees Celsius compared to what it was 150 years ago.
Both petroleum fuels and natural gas contain carbon bonded with hydrogen in different formulas and compositions, and the ideal solution is to search for a fuel free of this bond with carbon, that is, a fuel that contains pure hydrogen or chemically bonded with other elements away from carbon.
The process of separating hydrogen from water is carried out through the use of intense electrical energy, at a time when the world and science are active to invent the necessary technological solutions. To produce green hydrogen by separating it from water using solar electrical energy or wind energy, there are applied scientific and technological efforts that are now in full swing. To find innovative solutions on how to use this green hydrogen in various applications.
