Egypt and UAE to Collaborate on 4 GW Renewable Energy Integration

Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly announced a close collaboration between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates to integrate 4 gigawatts of wind and solar energy into the Egyptian power grid, starting next summer.

During a meeting to discuss areas of cooperation in renewable energy, Madbouly emphasized Egypt’s firm belief that the future of energy lies in renewables, highlighting the need to increase reliance on them to meet the country’s growing energy needs.

He pointed to Egypt’s ambitious plans to integrate more renewable energy into the grid, with a focus on localizing related industries, including the manufacturing of solar panels and wind energy components.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, affirmed the possibility of finding a radical solution to Egypt’s energy challenges through a clear energy roadmap and bilateral cooperation, including the exchange of expertise and mechanisms in the short, medium, and long term.

Kamel El Wazir, Minister of Transport, expressed Egypt’s readiness to provide the necessary land for localizing renewable energy industries.

Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity, presented the ministry’s plans to increase renewable energy capacity and connect it to the national grid.

Engineer Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, outlined opportunities for cooperation in the oil sector with Emirati companies.

This agreement reflects the commitment of Egypt and the UAE to achieving sustainable development goals, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing bilateral cooperation in vital areas of strategic importance to both countries.
