August 28, 2024

Khalda Petroleum Company, acting on behalf of U.S. company Apache and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, announced a new oil discovery in the West Fayoum-1 area of the Kalabsha Development Zone in the Western Desert. The company stated that the new well was tested by perforating 270 feet in the Paleozoic sandstone, yielding 7,165 barrels of oil per day at a quality of 44 API and 23 million cubic feet of associated gas on a 1-inch production choke.

Electrical logs of the well indicated the presence of petroleum in the Paleozoic formation, with a total net thickness of 462 feet.
