Egypt Halts Power Cuts During Summer

July 21, 2024

A responsible source at the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy stated that the load-shedding plan has been halted as of Sunday morning, following directives from Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.

The source explained that the cost of halting the load-shedding plan during the summer reaches approximately $1.185 billion. The government bears this cost to provide sufficient amounts of fuel, such as gas and mazut, to operate power stations.

With the end of the load-shedding plan, electricity service hours will return to normal across Egypt starting Sunday. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly previously announced the end of the electricity supply shortage crisis, confirming that the load-shedding plan would be halted during the summer from July 21 until mid-December.
