Egypt Turns to Treated Waste to Tackle Electricity Challenges

July 9, 2024

A new study reveals that utilizing Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) from treated waste in the cement industry offers a viable solution to environmental pollution caused by burning waste without gas purification.

The proposed solution involves using RDF to generate electricity through on-site thermal decomposition, minimizing transportation costs and emissions. The resulting ash can be utilized as a secondary product in cement production.

This represents a significant step toward environmental sustainability and addresses Egypt’s power outage challenges. Through projects like those led by Green Tech Egypt, the country seeks to bolster its standing in clean energy and sustainability by reducing pollution and providing renewable energy sources.
