Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy has restored power to all areas where it was cut off to maintain the stability of the country’s electrical grid. The outage was due to a fuel supply issue, which caused several power generation units at the Subiya and Doha West power and water desalination stations to go offline. Kuwait had signed contracts in May to purchase 500 megawatts of electricity through the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority, including 300 megawatts from Oman and 200 megawatts from Qatar, between June 1st and the end of August. The ministry urged citizens to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and to follow its guidelines. Any updates regarding the status of the electrical grid will be announced accordingly.
