“Egypt” discusses with “JICA” strengthening strategic partnerships in the green economy

On the sidelines of her participation in the spring meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, held an important meeting with a delegation from the Japanese International Cooperation Authority (JICA). The meeting discussed the prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries in areas such as the efforts made To transition to a green economy, which reflects the depth of Egyptian-Japanese relations and the keenness of both sides to strengthen and develop them.

Minister Al-Mashat stressed the strength of the partnership between Egypt and JICA, pointing to the tangible achievements that have been achieved on the ground thanks to joint cooperation in vital areas such as health, education, and infrastructure. The Minister highlighted JICA’s valuable contributions to financing important national projects, such as the project Comprehensive health insurance, metro lines, renewable energy projects, and education development programs, which have had a significant impact in enhancing investment in human capital and achieving sustainable development in Egypt.

The food security file has emerged as one of the most important areas of future cooperation between Egypt and JICA, especially in light of the implementation of the NOVI projects that link water, food and energy projects.

This meeting reflects Egypt's firm desire to strengthen its relations with Japan, as it is an important strategic partner in the comprehensive development process. The discussions confirm the two countries' keenness to develop innovative cooperation mechanisms in vital areas that touch the needs of citizens and support efforts to achieve sustainable development goals. Plans to hold an annual policy dialogue represent a step forward. It is important towards enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences between the two sides, pushing the Egyptian-Japanese partnership to broader and more effective horizons.
