“India” signs an agreement with “France” to enhance energy security

May 19, 2024

Indian Oil, a leading Indian energy company, and French energy company Total Energies to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) signed a long-term agreement in an important step to enhance India's energy security and achieve greater energy independence.

This deal comes within the framework of India's efforts to diversify external energy sources and enhance energy security. India relies heavily on importing oil and gas to meet its growing energy needs.

Sources revealed to the Indian newspaper "Mint" that the duration of the contract is up to ten years, during which Total Energies is committed to exporting liquefied natural gas to Indian Oil Company in the amount of one million tons annually.

This major deal between the two companies comes after another major transaction that took place during this year.
