Fire Erupts at Russia’s Tuapse Refinery Following a Suspected Drone Attack

July 22, 2024

Officials in the Krasnodar region have reported damage to the Tuapse refinery, owned by Russian oil giant Rosneft, following a suspected Ukrainian drone attack overnight. The refinery, situated on the Black Sea coast, caught fire after debris from a drone, allegedly downed by Russian air defenses, landed within the facility.

According to a statement released by the regional administration via the Telegram messaging app, the fire has since been contained. While no casualties have been reported, details regarding the refinery’s operational status and the damage’s extent remain unclear.

Since the outbreak of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 2022, the Tuapse refinery has been subjected to repeated drone attacks, resulting in recurring damage and disruptions.
