July 7, 2024

Lidl, in collaboration with Jacky Perrenot and Lhyfe, announced the launch of the first green hydrogen-powered vehicle in the French retail sector.

This announcement represents an important strategic step in Lidl’s transition toward sustainable energy use.

This measure aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This step follows the opening of the first logistics platform powered by green hydrogen in Europe in Carquefou-Loire-Atlantique in March 2022, where Lidl confirmed its commitment to environmentally friendly delivery and in partnership with Jacky Perrenot and Lhyfe Lidl signed a charter at the Agriculture Salon 2022 pledging to introduce the first heavy truck powered by green hydrogen on the road.

This truck delivers to Lidl stores in the Nantes region, which is an important development in the French transportation sector.
The new 26-ton truck is equipped with a 100-kilowatt-hour fuel cell and has a range of 400 kilometers.
It will be powered by 100% green hydrogen from the multiple power station in La Roche-sur-Yon that opened in December 2021.

Xavier Pierre, Head of Transport and Environment at Lidl, expressed his pride in launching the first green hydrogen-powered vehicle on the road, stressing that this step is an important progress in Lidl’s commitment to transitioning to sustainable energy.

Lidls Head of Transport and Environment praised the successful cooperation with Lhyfe and the Jacky Perrenot Group, emphasizing the shared values and ambitions between the companies.
