“Infinity Power” Develops Renewable Energy Projects in Cameroon

July 16, 2024

Infinity Power, Africa’s largest renewable energy provider, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Regional Council of Western Cameroon to develop up to 4 gigawatts of renewable energy across a range of technologies by 2035.

The agreement includes solar, wind, battery storage, hydroelectric, and biomass projects and will contribute to meeting the region’s growing energy needs and providing clean and sustainable energy.

Infinity Power aims to reach 10 gigawatts of operational renewable energy projects across Africa by 2030. The new energy projects will provide job opportunities and support economic development in Western Cameroon. They will also help improve energy access and enhance the quality of life for local residents.

Infinity Power is committed to working with local communities to ensure they benefit from these projects. The memorandum of understanding represents an important step toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Infinity Power is collaborating with the Western Cameroon Regional Council and UN-Habitat to ensure the success of these projects.

On this occasion, Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power, said: “We are pleased to announce the new 4-gigawatt project in Cameroon. Investing in facilities in a new country is always exciting, which adds to our long-term ambition to operate in every country in the world, including Africa.”

Dr. Jules Hilaire Focka Focka, President of the Regional Council of Western Cameroon, said: “Exploiting these resources can achieve the desired development in the region. We need energy to run the electric train and our industry, and we are grateful to Infinity Power for turning this dream into a reality.”

Dr. Vincent Kitio, Head of Urban Energy Solutions at UN-Habitat, stressed that the project will put the region on the path to real social and economic development and affect the lives of more than 5 million Cameroonians.
