“Infinity Power” Stops Charging Electric Cars in “Egypt”

June 12, 2024

Infinity Power, a provider of electric vehicle charging solutions in Egypt, announced that it will stop using the CHAdeMO charging protocol on all of its fast chargers starting June 30, 2024.

This decision follows an official directive from the Electricity Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency in Egypt (EgyptERA), requiring the adoption of European Union charging standards, which include direct current charging (CCS) and type 2 alternating current charging.

The company explained that this change aims to keep pace with global technological developments and improve the efficiency of the shipping process. “We realize that this change may affect some of our users, so we are providing a notice period until the end of the month to ensure that everyone has sufficient time to prepare for this transition,” it adds.

Infiniti Power’s decision means that after June 30, 2024, cars using the CHAdeMO protocol will no longer be able to charge using Infiniti Power fast charging devices.

Infiniti Power offers a number of alternative solutions for car owners that use the CHAdeMO protocol, including: charging using charging stations that support the CCS or Type 2 protocol, in addition to installing an adapter on the car that allows it to charge using the CCS or Type 2 protocol, in addition to using home chargers.

There are several tips that electric car owners must follow, including, for example, the necessity of checking the type of charging protocol that your car supports, and it is necessary to locate charging stations that support different charging protocols in your area.
