“Trina Solar” completes the largest solar power plant in “New Zealand” in cooperation with “Loadstone Energy”

March 31, 2024

Trina Solar, a leader in the field of renewable energy, announced the completion of the largest solar power plant in New Zealand, in cooperation with Loadstone Energy Company, and the plant is known as “Kohira”.

This project is a milestone in Trina Solar's journey. It is its first project in the Asia-Pacific region to combine Trina Solar panels with Trina Tracker smart tracking systems.

The Kohira station is located on an area of 64 hectares in the city of Kaitaia, and includes 61,000 Trina Solar Vertex 550W bifacial panels with double glazing, installed on TrinaTracker Vanguard 2P smart tracking systems. The station has a capacity of 33 MW DC, and is expected to generate about 55 GWh annually; Which provides energy to more than 7,770 homes.

This project contributes to New Zealand's renewable energy goals and offers many benefits. As it increases energy production, it also supports agriculture, as the wide space between the rows of panels and the height of the tracking system of two meters allows for the practice of effortful agriculture. This allows the production of solar energy alongside agricultural activities.

It also provides integrated solutions, as this project confirms Trina Solar’s commitment to providing integrated smart energy solutions. Where consumers benefit from having a single source of purchase; This facilitates operations, allows for faster delivery, smoother negotiations, standardized after-sales service, as well as reducing costs. Standardizing the source of purchase helps reduce costs and ensure efficiency, especially in difficult site conditions.

Edison Chu, President of Trina Solar Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, praised the collaboration with Loadstone Energy, stressing the importance of the project in achieving a zero-carbon future in New Zealand.

Gary Holden, General Manager of Lodestone Energy, stressed the company's commitment to providing renewable energy solutions to consumers in New Zealand, and expressed his desire to cooperate with Trina Solar on future projects.
