BlackRock's Investment Institute has released new scenarios for the energy transition, indicating that massive investments of $4 trillion annually will be needed by the middle of the next decade to achieve green energy goals.
The scenarios indicate that the world has already invested $19 trillion in the field of energy transition since 2004, with a noticeable growth in the volume of investments recorded in recent years. Investments in this field have reached $1.8 trillion in 2023. This represents a huge increase compared to $33 billion in 2004.
It is expected that these huge investments will provide tremendous investment opportunities for investors around the world, whether in developed or emerging markets, and BlackRock indicates that the Asia-Pacific region is one of the most attractive regions for investment in the field of green energy.
Despite the positive trend in the volume of investments, the scenario indicates a large financing gap of $18 trillion to achieve green energy goals by 2030, and bridging this gap requires increased public and private sector participation in financing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
