After the end of their lifespan, two companies cooperate to recycle solar panels

March 19, 2024

Iberdrola and FCC Ampeto have collaborated; To fully recycle solar panels 100% after the end of their life.

This cooperation between the two companies was not the first of its kind; Before 2022, the two companies cooperated to recycle wind farm turbines. They created the "Energy Loop" company for this purpose.

FCC Ampeto had previously launched a project to recycle solar panels, in addition to establishing another project aimed at extracting silver from solar panels.

Iberdrola has a history in developing clean energy technologies. In 2021, it cooperated with the “MAPFRI Insurance” company to invest in new and renewable energy projects in Spain. It was planned to generate 100 MW of operational wind energy and 130 MW of photovoltaic energy.

The company "Iberdrola" succeeded in obtaining financing from the European Investment Bank – which seeks to transition to clean energy in Europe under a plan called "Repower EU" – worth $1.078 billion, with the aim of building 19 solar power stations and 3 offshore wind farms with a capacity that may reach 2.2 gigawatts.
