Actis invests $3 billion in renewable energy in Africa

May 21, 2024

Dr. Sherif El-Khouly, partner and regional head of North Africa and the Middle East for the British private equity firm Actis, said that the company’s investments in the African continent have exceeded $3 billion. These investments focus on renewable energy projects, which are an important sector for achieving sustainable development in Africa.

During his participation in the activities of the first edition of the annual forum of the United Nations Global Compact, Al-Kholy pointed out that the financing challenge gap on the African continent has increased during the recent period. This requires increased private sector participation to bridge this gap and improve conditions on the African continent.

The first edition of the annual forum of the United Nations Global Compact is being held today, in the presence of a number of Egyptian ministers, businessmen, and company officials in various sectors.

The forum aims to enhance companies' commitments to their social and environmental responsibility, and support sustainable development goals.
