The UAE company ADNOC signed an agreement with the main terms between it and the German company Sivvi to transport liquefied natural gas from a facility in the Ruwais area in Abu Dhabi to Germany, starting in 2028 and for a period of 15 years.

The year 2028 was chosen to begin transporting gas because that year will witness the operation of the facility, which is distinguished as being the first in the Middle East to liquefy natural gas and operate with clean electricity. The capacity of the Ruwais energy project is 9.6 million tons annually.

The United Arab Emirates is interested in signing agreements to export liquefied natural gas. In 2022, the United Arab Emirates and Germany signed an agreement between them under the title “Strategic Agreement for Cooperation in the Field of Energy Security and Industrial Growth Accelerators,” which aims to cooperate between them to supply and import clean, low-carbon energy, and the first batch of liquefied natural gas has already been transferred from the Emirates. To Germany in 2023.

The UAE company ADNOC also signed an agreement with the Chinese company ENN to supply liquefied natural gas from Ruwais to China for a period of 15 years as well.
