Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, chaired a meeting with ministry leaders to review work progress in various sectors and discuss future projects.
The minister reviewed the current status of power generation and water desalination plants, as well as the latest updates on electrical and water networks. The discussion included the expected electrical loads for the current and next months, ensuring the ministry’s readiness to meet customers’ needs across all categories.
Bushehri outlined the Ministry’s future directions regarding power generation and water desalination projects, renewable energy projects, and the development of smart networks and meters. He set expected timelines for the implementation and completion of these projects. The Minister emphasized the importance of involving the private sector in traditional and renewable energy production projects, citing the successful experience of the North Al-Zour power plant.
Bushehri stressed the need to raise community awareness about the importance of conserving electricity and water, especially during peak summer times. He urged ministry leaders to work as a team and to complete their tasks promptly. The minister highlighted the importance of training and qualifying the national workforce, particularly recent graduates, as a top priority for the upcoming phase. The “Incentive” program, which offers a discount on electricity and water bills if resource conservation is proven, was also promoted.
