“Venture Global” strengthens the position of the United States as the largest exporter of liquefied natural gas

April 29, 2024

The American company "Venture Global LNG" revealed the start of operation of the "Blackmines LNG" facility in Louisiana, which is its second facility to export liquefied natural gas, in mid-2024. This supports the United States’ position in the field of supplying liquefied natural gas, especially with the increasing global demand for this clean fuel.

The total production capacity of the facility is 20 million tons annually, 10 million of which are in the first phase.

Venture Global aims to import some LNG from foreign sources to operate the facility, with the expectation of receiving up to three LNG tankers this year.

The move comes at a time when the United States is witnessing tremendous growth in the liquefied natural gas sector, driven by the shale oil revolution that has led to the discovery of massive natural gas reserves across the country.

This led to the United States being ahead of Qatar and Australia in exporting liquefied natural gas to the world, according to statistics from last year.

The Blackmines facility is the second LNG export facility operated by Venture Global in the United States. In 2022, the company began operating the Calcasieu Pass LNG export facility.

These projects contribute to strengthening the United States’ position as a major player in the global liquefied natural gas market, and help meet the growing demand for this clean fuel.
