The Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, said that OPEC contributes only 4% of carbon emissions, while America and the European Union are responsible for 40%.

During his participation in a dialogue session entitled “Energy Security and Future and Sustainable Development” on the sidelines of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Islamic Development Bank Group, the Minister stressed the necessity of finding just and equitable solutions to the issue of climate change, taking into account the national circumstances of countries and their energy needs, stressing the commitment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia supports international efforts to combat climate change without compromising its national interests.

Prince Abdulaziz pointed out that there is a list of solutions to reduce carbon emissions, any of which can be adopted, and that international cooperation is necessary to solve the problem of climate change, which is a global problem that cannot be solved at the local level.

The Minister explained that those who make policies not only have a responsibility to take care of the interests of current peoples, but they also have a moral obligation to be able to take into account the future of future generations with the ability to grow.

The Minister concluded his speech by emphasizing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's belief in the importance of the climate change issue, and that it is striving to deal with it in a responsible and constructive manner, taking into account all circumstances and challenges.
