“Mauritania” is looking for an operator for “Bir Allah”

The Director General of Hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Mines in Mauritania confirmed that the contract awarded to BP and Komsmos Energy in the offshore natural gas field in Bir Allah expired on April 29, and that his country is currently working on searching for a new operator that will participate in its vision in Development.

Mauritania, which is located in northwest Africa, aims to accelerate the pace of the “Bir Allah” project, which contains about 80 trillion cubic feet of liquefied natural gas, in addition to providing local supplies with the aim of reaching the first gas by 2030.

BP is the operator of the well, along with its partners in Kosmos, which confirmed the expiration of the contract period on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, and that it is continuing its work with the Mauritanian government on gas opportunities in Mauritania.
