Eni divests some of its oil assets in Congo

The Italian company Eni announced the completion of an important deal aimed at divesting some of its oil assets in the Republic of the Congo, as part of its efforts to change its focus towards more profitable projects that are less harmful to the environment.

Eni's share in exploration and production licenses was sold to Perenco, a French company specializing in the field of oil and gas, for a value of $300 million. This step comes in line with Eni's strategy to focus on natural gas projects, especially in light of the increasing global demand for this material as an alternative. Cleaner for oil.

Eni is the only company committed to developing Congo's vast gas resources, through the Congo LNG project, which meets the country's energy needs and supplies global markets with natural gas.

Eni currently supplies gas to the Congolese electric power station; Which contributes to providing 70% of the country’s electricity needs. Eni is also committed to supporting the energy transition in Congo, through the development of projects for the production of agricultural raw materials designated for biorefining.
