“Libya”: Resuming production in 9 oil wells in the “Sarir” field

May 14, 2024

The National Oil Corporation in Libya announced the resumption of production in nine oil wells in the Sarir oil field, in a step considered a notable development for the energy sector in Libya, after the completion of the necessary maintenance work.

The technical teams of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company succeeded in carrying out precise technical repairs, which resulted in restarting the closed wells. Which will increase production by 4,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

The repairs included rehabilitating the high-pressure electricity network that supplies four stalled wells, addressing leaks in the flow lines of four other wells, in addition to completing the electrical and mechanical connection to another well.

In a related context, the National Oil Corporation revealed an important discovery in the field of gas and condensates in an exploratory field southeast of Al-Lahib field, as part of its strategic plan to increase production rates. The exploratory well, which was drilled in a new geological formation, was tested after reaching a final depth of 8,666 feet (2,641 metres), and the results showed its ability to produce 16.8 million cubic feet of gas and 626 barrels of oil per day.

These steps come within the framework of the corporation’s efforts to achieve its ambitious goals and raise oil and gas production rates in the country, which reflects Libya’s commitment to strengthening its position in the global energy market.
