“Libya”: Operating a new pipeline that transports 10,000 barrels of oil per day

May 20, 2024

The Libyan National Oil Corporation announced the start of operation of a new pipeline linking the North Hamada oil field to the port of Mellitah on the Mediterranean coast, an achievement that represents an important step towards enhancing oil production in the country and achieving the desired economic stability.

The new pipeline, which is 50 kilometers long, will transport 2,000 barrels of oil per day in its first stages. In the coming months, it will reach 10,000 barrels per day, with production plans gradually reaching 25,000 barrels per day.

Thanks to this project, Libyan oil exports are expected to increase and the country's revenues will improve. Which enhances its ability to meet its internal needs and achieve sustainable development.

It is noteworthy that the “North Hamada” field is considered one of the most important oil fields in Libya. Its reserves are estimated at about 2 billion barrels of black oil.

Nafusa Oil Operations Company, a subsidiary of the National Oil Corporation, manages production operations in the North Hamada field.
