“Russia”: We exceeded “OPEC+” quotas in April for technical reasons

May 23, 2024

The Russian Ministry of Energy announced that its country exceeded its production quotas stipulated within the “OPEC+” agreements for the month of April, explaining that this exceedance resulted from “technical reasons” related to reducing production by a large amount, stressing Russia’s full commitment to the “OPEC+” agreements and the compensation plan for any deviation from Voluntary production levels.

According to the statement, Russia will soon submit to the OPEC Secretariat its plan to compensate for the surplus production in April.

While Russia maintained its commitment to production quotas during the first quarter of 2024, it faced some technical challenges in cutting production sharply in April. Which led to her exceeding the prescribed quota.
