“China”: We are committed to supporting the security of oil, gas and renewable energy supplies

May 30, 2024

China has emphasized strengthening its energy cooperation with Arab countries, as part of its efforts to secure its growing energy needs and expand its influence in the Middle East.

In his speech during the opening of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the importance of strategic cooperation between China and Arab countries in the fields of oil and gas, stressing Beijing's commitment to supporting the security of supplies from the region.

These pledges come at a time when relations between China and Arab countries are witnessing remarkable prosperity. China is the largest importer of oil from the region, and Beijing seeks to strengthen these relations by investing in energy and infrastructure projects in Arab countries, and supporting renewable energy projects.

China also expressed its readiness to cooperate with Arab countries in the field of research and development of modern energy technology and equipment production.

It is expected that these efforts will contribute to enhancing economic cooperation between China and Arab countries, and help achieve sustainable development in the region.

Arab leaders, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, are participating in the China-Arab Cooperation Forum, which Beijing is hosting this week, and it is expected that the forum’s talks will feature energy and regional security issues, in addition to the war in Gaza.
