June 3, 2024

Algeria is seeking to strengthen its position on the global energy map as a rising player in the natural gas market, driven by huge discoveries of its reserves on its territory, and the increasing demand for this clean fuel in Europe.

The Algerian government continues its tireless efforts to increase production and exports. In an effort to diversify sources of income and achieve sustainable economic development.

Algeria is setting ambitious goals in the field of natural gas during the next five years, which include increasing its production of natural gas to 200 billion cubic meters annually. Which represents a qualitative leap that places it among the major gas exporting countries, and increases its exports of natural gas to Europe to reach 100 billion cubic meters annually. Which will make it one of the most important suppliers of gas to this continent.

The Algerian government is making huge investments in the fields of prospecting and exploration, and is concluding agreements with international companies to raise productivity.

The government provides strong support to the energy sector. Which encourages investment in new gas projects. Algeria has huge natural gas reserves estimated at more than 180 trillion cubic feet. Which makes it among the countries richest in natural resources in Africa.

Sonatrach, the national oil and gas company, is one of the leading companies in the field of gas exploration and production, and has extensive experience in this field.

Algeria enjoys a distinctive geographical location that makes it close to European markets. Which reduces transportation costs. The demand for natural gas in Europe is witnessing remarkable growth, especially as European countries move towards reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
