“Egypt” exports 50 thousand tons of liquefied natural gas to “Europe”

The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources revealed that it is preparing 50,000 tons of liquefied natural gas for export from the Idku station to Europe before the end of March 2024.

Minister of Petroleum, Engineer Tarek El Molla, said that Egypt exported natural gas during 2023 worth $2.5 billion out of $8 billion in the value of Egyptian petroleum exports in general, while Egypt’s revenues from liquefied natural gas witnessed an increase of 140% during the year 2022 compared to 2021. It became $8.4 billion after it was $3.5 billion.

Egypt produces natural gas between 5.4 and 5.5 billion cubic feet per day, and 60% of consumption is directed to power generation plants. Egypt also exports 70% of the natural gas that it converts into liquid form to Europe, according to 2024 data.

Egypt focuses on exporting liquefied natural gas; It aims to export 12 million metric tons annually by 2025.
