“Iraq”… an agreement with “Siemens” to convert burned gas into fuel

In an important step to protect the environment and enhance Iraq's capabilities in the field of energy, the Iraqi government signed an agreement with the German company "Siemens Energy" to convert gas burned within the framework of the oil production process into fuel for generating electricity.

The agreement aims to end the phenomenon of burning gas in Iraq and invest it effectively in generating electrical energy, within the framework of Iraq’s commitment to the decisions of the Paris Climate Conference in preserving the environment and providing renewable energy sources.

The agreement covers the transfer of 240 million standard cubic feet of gas within one year, and is divided into two stages:
● The first phase: investing 120 million standard cubic feet of gas within 6 months.
● Phase Two: Investing an additional 120 million standard cubic feet within one year.

The produced gas will be used to establish an electrical station with a capacity of 2000 megawatts. This will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the electrical network and ensuring the stability of processing hours.

The agreement is expected to have great benefits for Iraq, including protecting the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing a new source of electrical energy, as well as enhancing Iraq's capabilities in the field of energy.

The Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel, stressed the importance of the agreement, describing it as a “positive step” in Iraq’s march towards achieving its goals in the field of energy. The Minister concluded by saying that “Iraq is committed to implementing the agreement in all its provisions, and we will seek to invest all available resources to ensure the success of the agreement.” this project".
