“India” dispenses with Russian oil shipments

March 24, 2024

Indian refineries announced that US sanctions on trucks transporting Russian oil prompted them to ban the import of Russian oil belonging to the Russian company "Sovcomflot", while "Sovcomflot" was acquiring 20% of the crude oil imported by India in 2023.

Commenting on this news, a spokesman for the US Treasury Department expressed his happiness with this decision and hoped that other countries would take such a decision, stressing that this would not affect global oil prices and flows. The company’s fleet was affected by these statements and decisions, as Bloomberg announced that there were seven shipments. Of the company's oil is idle on the Black Sea coast. Kpler also announced that there are idle shipments of Russian diesel in the ocean amounting to 6.2 million barrels, which is the highest percentage reached by Russian oil shipments until March 17 compared to 2017.

The United States of America is tightening sanctions on Russian cargo ships, as it has added 40 new Russian ships to the list of banned ships that are subject to sanctions. Despite this, Russia has taken advantage of the so-called “shadow fleet” to compensate for the losses of the American sanctions.
