Saudi Aramco has awarded contracts worth $7.7 billion to expand the gas processing capacity of the Fadhili gas plant from 2.5 billion standard cubic feet per day to 4 billion standard cubic feet per day.
The expansion work is expected to be completed by November 2027, and will contribute to Aramco’s strategy to raise its gas production by more than 60 percent by 2030, compared to 2021 levels. The expansion will also increase sulfur production by an additional 2,300 metric tons per day.
This step comes in the context of Saudi Arabia's efforts to develop its unconventional gas reserves, and the Kingdom also plans to invest in liquefied natural gas projects abroad. These developments indicate Saudi Aramco's commitment to meeting the growing demand for gas and supporting the Kingdom's strategy to diversify energy sources. These contracts are a milestone in Aramco’s journey to strengthen its position as a global leader in the field of energy.
