The French company "Framatom" announced that it had contracted with the Russian company "Rosatom" to provide it with the necessary technologies for the nuclear industry needed to operate nuclear power plants in a number of European countries, including Germany, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.
Despite the Russian-Ukrainian war, Europe's imports of nuclear fuel did not decrease. Rather, they were essential for generating electricity that fed the needs of more than 100 million citizens in Europe.
The European continent's interest in nuclear energy appears in a meeting scheduled to be held on March 21 in Brussels between the leaders of European countries under the title "International Atomic Energy Agency Summit." Framatom also signed a contract with a Russian company affiliated with Rosatom with a capital estimated at 8.8 million. dollar; With the aim of importing the necessary technologies to generate nuclear energy from the Russian company.
The implementation of this project depends on obtaining the approval of the German government, which will host this project in its country, but the government faces strong opposition to this project due to nuclear energy’s negative effects on the environment, in addition to the desire of these opponents to reduce dependence on Russian technologies.
