The Sultanate of Oman is participating in the “Hydrogen H2A” event in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to showcase its vast potential in green hydrogen production and attract global investments, particularly from the Netherlands, a leader in this field.
Oman is presenting itself as a major regional hub for green hydrogen production, leveraging its strategic location, abundant renewable energy resources, such as solar and wind power, and developed infrastructure.
The Omani government is seeking to attract huge investments of up to $49 billion to enhance its capabilities in this field and produce more than one million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030.
Oman is currently implementing some pioneering green hydrogen projects, such as the “HYPORT Duqm” project, which is one of the largest green hydrogen projects in the world and aims to produce 1.3 gigawatts of renewable energy to carry out the electrolysis process for green hydrogen production. Another project is Hydrogen Oman, which is a partnership between the Oman Investment Authority, Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power, and Air Products and aims to produce green ammonia using green hydrogen.
