Russia launched drone attacks on energy transmission facilities in northern and central Ukraine overnight, causing temporary power outages for households and industrial producers.
Moscow forces targeted five Ukrainian regions, including Kyiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Poltava, using at least 17 drones and four missiles, Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said on Telegram.
These attacks come in the context of Russia’s repeated targeting of Ukraine’s energy system, including generation and transportation facilities, since the start of the war in 2022.
Russia intensified its attacks on energy facilities this spring, leading to widespread power outages.
Ukraine has imposed electricity supply restrictions since March on all consumers except vital facilities such as hospitals and public transportation, while some residents suffer from power outages for several hours every day.
